I hereby certify that I examined the body of Dr. Mac-Donald of Wuchow at 1.40 p.m. on the 14th day of July 1906 on board S.S. "Sainam" in Canton. Rigor Mortis was present; there was blood about the scalp; there was an external wound on left side of skull extending inwards and downwards through the brain for three and three quarter inches. There was also another wound in left iliac region of the abdomen passing obliquely downwards superficially but without any apparent communication with the abdominal cavity. I believe both these wounds to have been caused by bullets and that death was instantaneous from the wound of the brain. I found no other marks of injury.
I examined Captain Joslin who had a bullet wound in the epigastric region of his abdomen and the bullet was, to the best of my belief, then situated in the region of the diaphragm or liver. His condition did not seem serious and unless the bullet causes any inflammatory mischief, such as an abscess, I consider he will make a good recovery. I advised his removal at once to the Civil Hospital in Hong-kong by S.S. "Kinshan" then about to leave the Port. He had previously been examined and dressed by Dr. Stanford of H.M.S. "Moorhen".
The Chief Engineer, Mr. Seggie, was suffering from superficial burns of the forehead, left side of face and left ear, also left elbow, left hand and wrist and left knee. His wounds will probably all heal in a few days except that of the knee, which will probably take from ten to fourteen days.
The three Indian watchmen had all also been examined and dressed by Dr. Stanford. They were all three admitted
